Welcome to Your Website!

We understand, here in Ability West, the importance of our volunteers to the organisation, but we also know how difficult it can be to keep volunteers informed about upcoming events and what is happening within the organisation. For this reason, we have created this website to share information with you and to give you an opportunity to make contact with other volunteers.

As volunteers, you are making a very valuable contribution to the services Ability West provide to people with intellectual disabilities. People choose to volunteer in many ways; in the community and from a centre base. Community volunteers befriend people with intellectual disabilities, go to social events, dine out, do sporting activities and many more. Centre-based volunteers assist with and deliver many programmes, such as arts and crafts, drama, music, sports and advocacy. Of course, some volunteers provide the valuable service of fundraising, which is essential to the provision of services.

Whatever you have chosen to do as a volunteer, you are helping people with intellectual disabilities to play a more active role in their community, you are widening their social circle and you are helping people with intellectual disabilities to realise thyeir dreams and ambitions. For that we would like to say, "Thank You!"

We feel that all of our volunteers give so much to Ability West, and we want you to feel as supported and engaged as possible. Therefore, this website  has been created to foster social networking among you, the volunteers of Ability West. This website belongs to each and everyone of you, so please contribute as much as you can. We have tried to make it as user friendly as possible, so please find help sheets on each page. Please, share your feedback, suggestions and thoughts to make this website working for us better!

If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, or if you have photos of your volunteering activities, please contact us. You can email volunteers@abilitywest.ie or leave a comment on our home page.
